Textile Innovations – Grilon Binder Fibers for Functional Textiles

17.06.2016

Innovative companies have strengthened their market position with high value non-wovens and functional fabrics. EMS-GRILTECH gives unique support with a variety of different Grilon binder fiber specialties.

Special Polymers for Binder Fibers

Copolyamide and copolyester resins are ideal raw materials for binder fibers, which are used to strengthen and stabilize nonwovens and yarns.
EMS-GRILTECH offers a specialized product portfolio of binder fibers with a melting range of 115°C to 180°C. According to the demand of the application and process, fibers are available with different sizes and cross sections (mono-component or bi-component).

Grilon Fiber Specialties

Grilon KA 115 and KA 140 are copolyamide binder fibers with a melting point of 115°C and 140°C, respectively. They show great success in blends with polyamide and natural fibers in yarns and nonwovens. Both types are also available as bi-component fibers with a PA 6 core material.

Grilon BO 115 is a binder fiber for steam activation processes. Fiber products which are temperature sensitive can be bonded at temperatures below 100°C.

Grilon EP 1236 is a new bi-component fiber with a 180°C melting point of the sheath and 220°C of the core polymer. Characteristics of this fiber are a very high chemical resistance, low water uptake and extreme toughness.

Our experts from the Application Development Center are pleased to assist you to select the most suitable Grilon binder fiber or binder yarn and find a custom-made solution for you.
