The spectrum from cold to hot is newly defined for tubes.

A new polyamide, specifically developed for the manufacture of tubes, sets new standards with regard to the influence of temperature. The combination of good flexibility at low temperatures and excellent stiffness at high temperatures is the real strength of the new Grilamid 2S. Tubes for brake booster systems are a good example of this.

EMS increases PPA capacity in Europe

EMS-GRIVORY, a business unit of EMS-CHEMIE AG, will increase its production capacity for Grivory HT high-performance polyamide, a polyamide bringing top performance at high temperatures.

EMS will further increase its capacity by constructing an additional Grivory HT manufacturing plant in Europe. Start-up of the new plant is planned for the end of 2010. This investment will allow EMS-GRIVORY to further underline its position as market leader.

Grivory HT belongs to the family of polyphthalamide (PPA) materials - the engineering polymer displaying the most rapid growth, with double-digit growth figures. Grivory HT is characterised by its high-performance property profile. Technical injection-moulded parts made of this material impress with their very high strength, stiffness, toughness and dimensional stability, even at high temperatures, and under moist conditions or when exposed to aggressive media.

Grivory HT is used for the efficient manufacture of high-quality technical parts characterised by:

- stiffness and strength at high application temperatures
- little change in properties following take-up of water
- good dimensional stability and a low tendency to warp
- good resistance to chemicals
- good surface properties
- cost-saving, economic manufacturing processes

Price increase

EMS-GRIVORY (CH) will increase with effect from April 1st, 2010 their prices in Europe by 5%.
The products concerned are Grilamid TR, Grivory GV/HT and Grilon A, B and TS.

These price increases result chiefly from the high raw material costs since the beginning of this year. Despite great efforts in productivity, we were not able to compensate for these increases.

Plastics make car travel environmentally friendly

At the VDI conference in Mannheim this year, EMS-GRIVORY is presenting its contribution towards reduction of CO2 levels. On the one hand with highperformance plastics which are very similar to metals and which have been used for many years now to help reduce CO2 emissions from road traffic, but topics will also include biopolymers and manufacturing using process steam from a biomass power station.

New street name / GRIVORY GVL long-fibre technology

New street name has been assigned to EMS-CHEMIE AG. With long glass-fibre reinforced Grivory GVL, a new material is entering the market which is unfazed by both water uptake and high temperatures. Grivory GVL opens up new possibilities for the light-weight design of dynamically stressed components.

Grilamid TR – Transparent, high-performance polyamides without weaknesses

Amorphous thermoplastic materials exhibit excellent transparency. On the other hand, these materials tend to show little resistance to stress cracking and have low flexural fatigue strength. Combination of these properties is however, not doomed to fail. It is made possible by the product family Grilamid TR, which provides a wide assortment ranging from flexible to rigid materials and enables practically indestructible plastic applications to be achieved satisfying the highest requirements.
