Transparent Grilamid TR 30 was consciously developed with a property profile for demanding industrial applications. Compared to Grilamid TR 55 the module of elasticity (stiffness) has been increased by nearly 30% and notched impact strength by 50%. Combined with this especially high stiffness is a very hard surface leading to improved scratch and wear resistance which, depending on work or testing conditions, can reach the same values as PMMA. As with all Grilamid TR grades, Grilamid TR 30 also has very good resistance to stress cracking when in contact with different media. It is very resistant in particular to non-polar media such as n-hexane, fuels, oils and greases which is not provided by other transparent polymers such as PMMA or PC for example. For this reason, Grilamid TR 30 is excellently suited for applications in contact with automotive and industrial liquids. Filter housings, flow meters or sight windows are examples of this kind of application. Further applications are stable housings, structural components or displays with high requirements on surface gloss, scratch resistance and transparency for industrial plants or construction and agricultural machinery. A jet black, so-called piano black, version of the material provides uses with new design possibilities for high-quality trim and decorative parts and design elements in automotive interior finishing. A flammability rating of V2 at 0.8 mm wall thickness as per UL 94 also makes this material interesting for electrical and electronic applications.
