EMS provided support with polymer-specific design optimization, including integration of function, detailed simulation of component behavior, a tailor-made color match with an amazing metallic-looking finish, and finally, in prototype production and the start of series production. In addition to cost reduction, weight saving is also a key success factor. A weight reduction of 20% was achieved compared to traditionally used metal, meaning that more cargo can be transported. This leads to a lower carbon footprint for the transported freight and maximizes transport efficiency.
In summary, thanks to a close development cooperation, EMS provided the customer with significant cost and weight savings, as well as clear added value in terms of functionality.
